Let me tell you something. A little secret. Something that I have come to realise about the game Runescape.
Back in 2009, there was a rumor that Runescape was going to die out. That something was going to change it.
2012 came around and the release of Evolution of Combat.. Millions of players left, because they didn't like it. So the rumor mill was right. Runescape was dying.
Runescape changed, because many kids playing the game, left for other more exciting non grinding games. Their friends were playing other things. So the way to combat that was to change the game. Make it easier for kids to want to play it. Who cares about those that have stayed loyal. (Which is not a lot)
People say, "oh RS has changed, I dont like it." What you liked about a game you played 5 years ago, isnt what others might like. Maybe Jagex changed it because the only new players were bots.
When the bots left, we saw the real number of players. Less than 80k players. Before that it was sometimes over 150k.
That's a huge number of bots. 70K infact.
When I go to the website there are almost 97k people logged in. Could be because of Easter event.
The most since the bot nuke I'd have to say. And EoC.
I personally like EoC, I am one of those people who enjoy the game but I want to have everything now, just like all the GEN Now. I want levels to be quick. I'm not ashamed to say that. I did my time in classic and RS2. Now, its time I get 99s. Getting maxed is easier then ever. 10 months I think. Thats amazing, compared to over 2 years to max many years ago.
RS3 is evolving, to become better and keep up with everyone else there has to be sacrifices.
I am glad with the game right now. There are new bosses and quests. Using ingame wealth to buy bonds?! That's incredible. Best decision they have come up with so far!
If people want to get all nostalgic over what it was like years ago. Go and experience a private server, or go play Old school runescape.
Infact, many years ago, I remember kids crying on the official forums that there was no updates for f2p or higher leveled players. Then they bring out quests, and high bosses and those same people cry because it's too hard! Haha really?! Go outside and eat worms.. No one needs cry babies.
